I’ve just got a little sneak peek into this week’s vintage boudoir marathon… I loved getting the reaction from this woman! When she first saw her images she said, “This is crazy, I’m so happy! I feel like a movie star. 14 year old me is freaking out. I was obsessed with old Hollywood.”

This year I’ve teamed up with Classic Vintage Rentals to bring you a Vintage Valentine Boudoir Marathon! We’ll have beautiful vintage furniture including the Charlotte Vanity, Marie Pink Velvet Chair, Jeannie Velvet Bench and props to make these sessions extra romantic. Each session will include a full makeover by Portland Makeup & Hair, a pre-session Wardrobe Consultation with yours truly, Champagne and refreshments during your shoot and a 60 minute photo session in my studio downtown.
With the help of my intern Kaia, I wanted to show you a little bit of behind the scenes action. While Julie Oliveros did her fabulous makeover, we talked about the outfits together and so I could decide how to arrange the furniture and what backdrops would look best in which outfits. Here is just a peak into some of my favorites and a few snapshots to show you how it was done!
I love how much variety we got into just an hour long photoshoot in my studio! We got some beautiful bridal portraits with her blusher veil – I love that she wasn’t all in white for those shots and kind of incorporated in some of her wedding colors. She also brought in a scandalous romance novel that her fiance has customized for her. (The names/nicknames and locations can be customized so you have a romance novel just for you!) And of course we had to go with a strong red lip to match her romantic red lingerie!
So, I’m still figuring what to call this genre of portraiture. In the past, I always used the term “boudoir photography” but I don’t think that’s really accurate for most of my clients. Maybe contemporary glamour or beauty photography? What do you think? Anyway, whatever you wanna call it, my goal is to make each woman look her best and know how beautiful she is. We all have our own beauty and allure, my job is to bring it out!
