Wow, Sarah and Eric’s wedding was so beautiful and so much fun – they really threw a spectacular party! But I want to just jump to the end and tell you about the best part first. After 3 hours of the most high energy wedding dancing I’ve ever seen, Sarah and Eric made their getaway in a helicopter! And it was AWESOME! The DJ played a countdown, but no oneĀ knew what the counting was coming down to until… WHAT? There’s a helicopter! And it’s landing! It was a complete surprise to everyone. Even the bridal party didn’t know what was going on! Of course, thankfully, they told me about their wedding getaway plans ahead of time. When they first told me that this was happening at 10pm in the middle of a dark field, I’ll admit that my first thought was, “Well that’s a terrible time, it will be pitch black.” But then I got really excited. I decided that I would send them away with one of my flashes. By having really dependable off camera lighting, I was able to continue shooting even as they took off! Lesson learned: sparklers are fun, but if you really want to leave an impression, just leave in a helicopter. You only get married once right?
Alright, so back to the wedding. I loved photographing all of the gorgeous flowers by Botanica. The exotic orchids in fuchsia, cerulean and lime green went perfectly with this wedding venue with all of the water and greenery. We gave the guests branded bottled water to keep hydrated to enjoy the event.
Sarah and Eric’s ceremony was so sweet – the groom had already been crying half the morning (with excitement – don’t worry!) but as soon as he saw his bride start down the aisle it was all over. Tissues were out, emotions were high, I think Sarah might have even shed her first tear of the day. (Somebody has to keep it together, right?) Of course, that’s when the bubble machine kicked on. Plenty of weddings have bubbles at the end, but how many have you seen with actual machines creating bubbles throughout the ceremony? Personally, I loved it. Its the little quirky details that make weddings so perfect and personal. Don’t be afraid to add in something weird like a bubble machine or rusty old cheese graters if that’s what you want to do!
And then check out that drapery at the reception! All of that was done by the event coordinator, Jessica, owner of Savvy Sisters. The blue and green really added the extra pop of playfulness and class that Sarah and Eric so perfectly embody! Don’t miss the hora photos – that’s when the party really started! I definitely saw some super intense dancing the rest of the night. Just what I like to see!
Congratulations Sarah and Eric! I’m so excited for you two – you’re a fun and beautiful couple inside and out!
