Welcome to what was quite possibly the most fun I’ve ever had on an engagement session. Getting to photograph couples like Amanda and John is what makes my job the best. Sorry florists and caterers, you just don’t get to hang out with your awesome couples as much as I do. In fact, somehow, this “90 minute” engagement session turned into nearly 4 hours! We started by meandering around Champoeg Park. Amanda got to show me her awesome dance skills, she’s an instructor at Chehalem Valley Dance Academy. (Sidenote: In a couple of weeks I get to photograph the Nutcracker that she helped choreograph!) John got to practice jumping with masculine hands – I think we got that one nailed down, what do you think? Basically they just goofed around while I took photos.
Next we headed over to Newberg where John finally got to show off his dancing skills with the wall twerk. Definitely impressive. And then my favorite – the emotions game! I don’t know if that’s the best name for it, but I yell out emotions and they had to do what I said. Its kind of like simon says, but this one devolved into strange drunken dinosaur sneaking. Good time.
Our last stop was the Coffee Cat for a little snack and some beers. I LOVE their mirror wall in there, its perfect for a dramatic wall portrait. Just in case you can’t tell, I was channeling SNL’s “The Californians.” Amanda and John will be getting married at Wilmes Hop Farm in June – I can’t wait!!
